The Seattle Tennis Club tennis program shall, with the leadership of top professionals, advance competitive and social play for all ages and abilities, promote sportsmanship and camaraderie, and maintain a premier tennis facility.
5/23/13: Mission statement adopted.
The Tennis Committee shall formulate rules and policies for access to, allocation of and use of tennis and pickleball courts, subject to approval of the Board of Trustees.
The Tennis Captain has the authority to enforce those rules.
The Tennis Captain has the authority to suspend members from the use of the courts for periods up to thirty (30) days.
Article VI, Section 6
The Tennis Captain has delegated his or her authority to enforce the rules referred to above to the tennis professional staff, and may from time to time delegate such authority to one or more other designated staff members or designated members of the Board of Trustees. The Tennis Captain is the final authority as to all rules concerning tennis and pickleball, subject only to the Board of Trustees.
The following rules apply to all players using a tennis court to play tennis or pickleball. Standard athletic attire may be worn on the pickleball court.
1. Rules. All players must wear clean, white clothes in good repair and non-marking tennis shoes. Each article of clothing, including hats (but not including shoes), must be at least 2/3 white.
6/28/18: Former rule regarding shoes replaced with the foregoing.
All players must wear shirts. Men's shirts must have sleeves. T-shirts identified as for tennis are acceptable as long as they otherwise meet STC color restrictions.
Colored outerwear, warm-up suits, sweaters and vests are acceptable, as long as they are loose enough to allow for appropriate tennis attire underneath. An easy way to remember the rule is "if it’s skin tight, it must be white."
2. Enforcement. Any member who is found to be in violation of the Dress Code will be suspended for one week from tennis and pickleball play. Any member playing with a member or guest in violation of the Dress Code will be suspended for one week from tennis and pickleball play.
1/28/10: Adopted last sentence, sanctioning those who play with a violator of the Dress Code.
12/3/09: Adopted Part C, dress code.
