The Board of Trustees shall have the power to adopt and to amend from time to time supplemental
Guidelines and Policies not inconsistent with these Bylaws which shall govern the detailed aspects
of application for, election to, transfers within, and the maintenance and enjoyment of the several classes of
membership provided for herein.
Article I, Section 8
The Bylaws refer several times to "Guidelines and Policies" relating to membership. The matters set forth in Chapters 140-149 are intended to be those Guidelines and Policies, and to address the matters referred to in the Bylaws, as well as other rules, procedures and policies appropriate for distribution to members proposing applicants and to applicants themselves.
The purpose of the Guidelines and Policies shall be to supplement the Bylaws and provide for consistency in membership procedures. The Guidelines and Policies will be continually reviewed by the Membership Committee and are subject to revision from time to time by the Board of Trustees.
To have responsible members who will have and maintain a genuine interest in the facilities and activities of the Club, who will be socially and intellectually compatible with other members and will contribute to the enjoyment of the Club by existing members. The number should not exceed that which the facilities can serve to the reasonable satisfaction of existing members.
The Seattle Tennis Club welcomes diversity in its membership applicants. The membership applications shall include such a statement.

The assets of the Club – real, personal or mixed – are vested in the Club, under the control of the Active members. Membership shall not be transferable or assignable.
